Stray Cats In Tampa
Please spay and neuter your little animals. I drive all over Tampa and the stray animal is an common sight.
This little guy just walked up to me after I dropped a dude off a DUI school in Drew Park. Not all little Kitty's are this pretty. Many of them are Ferrel of course but many are loving animals who only need a good home.
Not all of them are lucky enough to end up in a neighborhood where they stand a good chance of being adopted. Many get lost in industrial (Get dumped...that is cruel) areas. In these places their chances of survival become minimized.
Yesterday I was dropping these girls off at the International Plaza and I saw a cat in the drainage ditch at the entrance of the mall. I don't believe he crossed 8 lanes of traffic to get to this desolate spot. He looked dirty, tired and hungry.
After I dropped the ladies off, I swung around and parked on the road and tried to see if I could help the kitty. When I got close to him he took off into the drainage pipe. I was only trying to help little guy.
Instead of just dropping your cats off thinking someone will adopt them. Don't. There is a place just south of the church's chicken on Armenia were Fiesta Plaza is. It's the Hillsborough County Animal Shelter They will take your animal in and unless it has a medical problem they will not destroy them. They will find loving homes for them.

Rob is a frined of mine and his post was all "stick." He is writer by trade and has a great sence of humor. I visited his house and there are animals all over the place including a dog that looks like the dog in the new Rocky Balboa movie.

For Rob. I can't make up my mind if I should laugh at you for your statements about homeless cats or feel sorry for you for having such a low life attitude. There have been "homeless" people who have gotten up and did some good things. But without the shelters they couldn't have gotten a chance. There are some people who have a one track mind and it seems to have jumped the track.

The key is to educate the kitties.
"Give a cat a fish, and you feed him for a day, teach a cat to yip at Addison's front door until he gets a can of Fancy Feast...and he'll eat forever." or something like that.

I think it is okay if cats want to marry each other, as long as they are not homos. Unfortunately, getting a male cat to remain loyal to a single female cat would require some sort of physical restraint, and you can bet your top dime that PETA or some other bleeding liver group would get angry and sue over that even if the President has NSA do it secretly under the powers granted to him by the Patriot Act.
See, the problem with liberals is that they have no sense. They want to help, which is nice, but their plans always end up enslaving cats instead of liberating them.
Remember what Benjamin Catman said: "A cat who gives up liberty in order to gain the security of Meow Mix every day deserves neither."
Also remember what Jesus Christ thought about saying: "The kitties you will have with you always. Neither do they work nor do they spin (unless they're chasing their tails), but my Lord likes to have them sit in His lap and purr anyway."
And, in the mortal words of Feather (a grey dock kitty from Los Angeles), "Meow, morr, prrrrr...."

Robin-
Your points are well-taken but let's not forget about protecting the sanctity of marriage. I have nothing against cats, I let two stay at my house sometimes (just not around my child). but the next thing you know, cats are going to want to get married! We'd better write into the Constitution that marriage is between a human and a human!

Drudge, back before Roosevelt and all that new deal nonsense, cats had to stand on their own four feet instead of relying on handouts.
I think it is a shame that American cats now expect to be fed out of cans instead of hunting their own food and seem to think they have a right to free housing, food, and medical care at government-funded animal shelters whenever the going gets a little tough.
Our cats ought to go to places like Mexico and Pakistan and see how cats live there. They'd stop whining in a hurry and would appreciate our country a heck of a lot more.
I am sick and tired of my tax dollars going to support indolent welfare cats who lay around purring and having kittens all day instead of working.
I don't know how you could compare me with Hilary. She is one of the people who wants to give free medical care to people. I bet she wants to start Medicat - with *my* tax dollars - as soon as she and her wussy draft-dodger buddies like Murtha and Kerry get done giving Medicare to all humans, especially illegal aliens.
Come to think of it, I'll bet a lot of the cats getting on that shelter gravy train are illegal aliens. I have see a lot of Persian cats - don't forget, Persia is IRAQ and IRAN - and not a single one has ever shown me a green card or even a passport.
My dog, Terri, says Al Queda has infiltrated America with terrorist cats, which is why she barks so loudly when one tries to infiltrate our yard.
But do the liberal soft-hearts think that when they support cat welfare they might be encouraging terrorism? No way!
I have nothing against cats; some of my best friends are cats. But we need to stop treating them like victims and start teaching them how to be self-reliant again.
Note that there is nothing in the Constitution that says we're supposed to provide animals shelters. In fact, there is nothing in the Constitution at all about cats.
Only bleeding-heart liberals try to take care of all the world's cats. The rest of us know the saying that goes, "If you give a cat a fish, the cat will come crying to you for more fish before the day is out. But if you teach a cat to fish, he'll be able to feed himself on his own without help from the nanny state."

Rob. Are you on drugs? What's wrong with helping a little KItty. Animals do not vote. Only Hilary would take your position.

Yes, we need some sort of humane shelter for Republicans. :)

We have some ferrel cats up here in the mountains and they must be tough to survive. Mostly it's dogs that are dumped or "lost". Wanda keeps wanting to bring them home and some day it will happen but right now it would be too much for our 16 year old cat, Fisal, to deal with.
And Rob, when you are attacked by a thousand cats, dogs and Republicans in your front yard, just remember you have no one to blame but yourself.

You nanny-state people are obsolete. This is the 21st Century. Poor people and, yes, kitties, need to fend for themselves. That animal shelter is nothing but socialism. It should be closed, along with all facilities for homeless humans (except for jails, which provided needed employment in rural areas for people who can be expected to vote Republican instead of supporting terrorists).
For those who are not yet mean enough to become Republicans, abandoning cats is good practice for abandoning people
I may need to try it myself. I am (much though I hate to admit it) sort of a failure at getting into the Republican mindset. So far the only creatures I've been able to abandon are lizards. Perhaps my next step will be to abandon my pond goldfish by putting them out in the street.
After that, maybe I can work up to cats, then to poverty-cursed humans, and eventually become as Republican as those kids over in Broward County who beat some homeless guys to death.
(sigh) Or maybe not. I'm just too much of a pussy to be that cruel. I hope President and Governor Bush (hollow be their names) will forgive me for my generosity and kindness, although it would be kind of them to do so, so they probably won't.
