Taxi Driver Responds To Crtiics
I usually don't read my comments. Or sometimes only after I have read the comic strips in the local paper.
But when most of them are inaccurate misrepresentations of what I have written, wrapped in PC, I need to respond.
For example, What Dionisio says about my last post means he did not get it. Instead of people saying they simply drove a cab...and thats it, would be fine. But what they really are saying is that taxi driving to them is a low level job way beneath them and they only did it because they were young and un-skilled at the time. I have no idea what you do for a living but it would be an insult if I told you "Yeah I used to do that when I was young and stupid." When I go to Wall-Mart, I don't tell the clerk that my first job ever was in retail....Subtle, I know, but still
To Casual Observer....First of all - I am not your friend.... I have fun on my job. Stats indicate that you do not. You are probably some "Ham and Egger" with a cell phone that is an electronic collar to your boss so you can be his punk. In short, you hate your life and have no need to take it out on me. When I go on vacation is up to me..It is only a matter of how many glamor/nude models I can arranged to meet me at a shoot. I get calls from them daily....you know the type of women you would only dream about in your MOST AMBITIOUS FANTASY. That's my world pal. Oh, I'm sorry..Friend. What do you know about my ethnic background? Next you will be calling me "Macaca." If you must know I am Italian/German/Lebanese, hence the Catholic upbringing. The last I checked, Lebanon was in the Middle East.
To Blog Lassiter...to quote someone you admire (not Lyndon LyRouche) Ronald Reagan "It does not matter what they say about you, as long as, they spell your name correctly" (today it is URL)

Well, Tim, I used to drive a cab in St. Pete for thirteen years. It got me through USF and then abled me to do some other things I wanted to attempt. And make a pretty good living at it. I know what your saying about the people that think cab drivers are not fulfilled. I met some great people (drivers and fares), "accidently" dropped an alchoholics booze at 3 AM on the cemment after he refused to pay me and got laid more than I care to think about. It was the best job I ever had. And yes I wound up eating a fare from St Pete to Plante City because I trusted that I would be paid on the other end. When it got to the point the dispatcher would give me a call and I could picture the house (any house) in my mind I figured the monotany had done me in. To me cab driving is the last job with real adventure.

As I am a peronal friend of Tim, there are times that I have to remind him to read some of comments. As for the casual observor, you don't know the man, he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder, he like I call it like I see it. If that bothers some folk's, oh well.

Thanks for the laugh! You're obviously entitled to your opinion it is after all your blog. But, posting your thoughts to the world and inviting anonymous comments are likely to draw comments that you don't like. Perhaps it's not an ideal circumstance for one with a chip on their shoulder.

there's nothing wrong with my reading comprehension- you weren't clear in your previous post as to what you were actually getting at. you didn't imply anything about them looking down on the job, what you said was " Nobody wants to admit they just drove a cab because they needed the money". which is exactly what they WERE saying, according to you. now that you've clarified yourself, i agree, they're assholes if that's what they mean when they say that, though i'm not convinced that they'd all have that intention.
if i didn't get it, it's because you didn't give it. you're better off viewing me as a challenge than a criticism, 'cos i'm not here to hate.
