Enter one Nolan Canova of "gas station attendant" fame. A former man of mirth, now just a believer in myth.
At night, Nolan works at an institute of mass merchandising called the 7-11. A ubiquitous outpost for the late night wayward and lonely, drawn to the store like moths to a flame. By day, he is a man of Pop-Culture,studying the ethos and legends of man, not to be confused with science and tech. Nolan searches for what is noble and valiant about mans quest for his own humanity. Science and reason are illegitimate tools for this understanding.
Those entering his store late night represent an approaching vanguard of the those who seek his knowledge. The lonely, the disenfranchised, the destitute, the drugstore cowboys and 7-11 philosophers come to Nolan hungry to know who they are, and what they can be.
Don't be confused by their 'ne'er-do-well' demeanor. These patrons are here to learn and grow. Life may need the ambitious. Life also needs conformity, which cannot be found here.
Unknown to Nolan, he is the ultimate mythical figure. He is the "Old Man In The Cave." He provides continuity and stability to his minions. He can, however, only guide you away from life's toxins. Partake of the radio-active after being warned, and you are on your own. The philosopher can rarely warn one of the logical consequences of their actions. Such is Nonlan's task.
If after the midnight hour, you find yourself driving around Tampa and you see an outpost up ahead, with the only lights on for miles. You stop at your own risk
