In all these years I have not seen it this good for the Gasparilla pirate festival. Money was flowing, and I was having a good time to boot. I picked up Nancy and her boyfriend and their crew, but I have not heard from Gordon. His email said he had lost my number. I am closing in on $400 for the day and it is only about 3 pm. Two of the more interesting guys I have picked up in my cab in some time were hitch-hiking thru America. They were two young guys from California and spend most of their nights out 'under the stars.' On occasion, they take a cab to get away from a major metropolitan area. Today, I got their call and they went up to State Rd 52 and I75 at the truck stop. They had the $52 for the fare. Not bad for two guys that ate a squirrel cooked over an open fire last night!
You can see them as they walk away on the on ramp to sr52 in Pasco County. They are as free as the breeze.
Lots of people can be seen right now on Kennedy blvd., holding signs protesting our communist president. I know people will just think they are a bunch of wing-nuts, berthers, rednecks, idiots and so forth, but their numbers are growing. Sorry mr. Obama if we don't do back flips over your stupid train that NOBODY will ride. Just my view from the front seat of the taxi cab.
I do like the 23,000 jobs that it will create in the next four years. That WILL stimulate the local economy. That is a good thing. I just think in the long run, it will be hardly used.
If you have lived in Tampa a long time, you will remeber Sandy Friedman and her downtown Tampa monorail.. Nobody road the thing and eventually the city of Tampa had to spend over a million dollars to take the thing down. Just my opinion from the front seat of the taxi cab.
They already have blocked off n boulevard between Kennedy and Cass. There are also National Guard troops patrolling the neighborhood near the university. It will get worse around Tampa as the day goes on.
A friend of mine in Washington State is involved in a project of deployment of remote digital trail cams. They have been placed in areas of elk predatory activity. The reason is to get a photo of a Sasquatch or Bigfoot. The project is part of the BFRO (BIGFOOT FIELD RESEARCH ORGANIZATION). The link is www.olympicproject.com
For the last two years with this AT&T wireless internet connection I have been having problems with it. I think now I have been inserting the card the wrong way-just enough to get a weak connection-but not for much else. If this post publishes instead of falling off the net like it usually does for the first twenty times I try, then I may be close to solving the problem.

Earnest Hooper of the St. Pete Times says people were acting out fear and hype when the purchased guns and ammunition after Obama was elected. He said they should have considered the facts. What facts Mr. Hooper. The only facts were Obama's support of the Washington handgun ban which the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional. You are wrong Mr. Hooper. Your name calling is typical of the mindless Obama supporters who support him for reasons other than issues and will only use pejoratives to advance their argument, and you know what I mean.
There were no facts about Obama. There was NOTHING about Obama. The country fell victim to a slick talker who had an amazing lack of anything on his job application.
I was sitting on the Dale Mabry strip zone stand waiting for a call. This little toyota came puling up, which is not unusual. People often ask the cab driver for directions this time of year. The guy behind the wheel looked familier, perhaps he was someone I have picked up before. As he got close, I could tell it was James Riley. I had not seen this guy since 2002 when he left town after his girlfriend flipped out on him and left him holding the bag. James "Irish" Riley.
He said he had been living in New York but was kind of vague on details. He has an apartment but no phone. The reason he was in Tampa was to look over his parants house in Lake County. He just wanted to catch up with some old friends.
I owe a lot to Riley. He was my first friend when I moved back to Tampa in 1995 and he helped me get my first apartment. He was my neighbor for many years. I wonder if I ever will see him again.
Oh, if he looks stoned....He is!
In my 53 years on Earth I have never seen suffering on such a large scope. Words are inadequate to describe this suffering. All we can do is donate money, time and prayer. We can just hope that something good will come of this. Perhaps Haiti will come out as a better nation. Who really knows. President Obama has moved quickly to bring help, but the situation is just too hopeless. Times like this make you wonder if there is a God. Why? What did these poor people ever do to deserve this?
That is really all I can say. If God reads my blog, do something about this. You are starting to lose credibility with those that need you the most. If "The way of God is a mystery to man." cut it out now. That is getting old to a race that has had thousands of years to figure you out. You are needed now sir. It is your time.
